I Am the Voice of a Prison Wife - Nadina

Occasionally, we want to showcase the voice of the prison wife in her own words. She may be a wife or a girlfriend or a loved one. But it is important for us to recognize that when her man does time, she does time, too.

What I miss about my man is the way that I could talk to him about anything and he would never judge me in any form or fashion…. It has been hard these past few years without him, [with] only pictures and memories of him… Phone calls that only last 15 minutes, which is not enough…

I get by my days without him by hanging out with my friends, which include other prison wives… When times get rough, we are there for each other and be each other’s backbone and comfort.

My advice to other prison wives around the world is to remain focused and pick some hobbies, or hangout with friends – or join a site like prisonwives and get the faith that you and your husband will be together soon again. And, most important of all, pray. – Nadina Batura
