Phone CallsIt's an overnight visiting program that started September 1, 2025, using 6 family visiting units inside the secure perimeter. Each visit lasts about 46 hours, and 3 units process in on a given day, with the rotation spread across Monday through Friday so families have different start days to work with. Required paperwork has to arrive at least 72 hours before the visit or it gets canceled.
VisitationIt's named for the native Ironwood trees that grow in the surrounding desert. CDCR chose the name because the trees share qualities of strength, solidity, and firmness with the institution's mission.
