Step 1: Submit a Visitation Application

Before you can visit anyone at Marion Work Camp, the inmate typically adds you to their approved visitor list, or you submit the required Visitation Application. Approval must be granted before you can schedule an actual visit date.

Step 2: Schedule Your Visit

Once approved, schedule each specific visit date and time through the FDOC Offender Search portal. This system covers scheduling across Florida’s state prisons, including satellite facilities like Marion Work Camp.

Visiting Hours and Arrival

Regular visiting at Marion Work Camp runs 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST. Arrive early to allow time for security processing. Call 352-401-6400 to confirm current visiting days, since not every day of the week is necessarily open for visits.

Getting There

The parent institution, Marion Correctional Institution, is about 9.5 miles north of Ocala on SR-25A. From I-75, take Exit 358 (SR-326 East) to the first traffic light, turn north, and continue about 4 miles. The facility is on the east side of SR-25A. FDC notes that GPS systems and mapping apps often give incorrect directions to its facilities using the physical address, so follow this route instead.

What to Bring

Bring a valid government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license, state ID, or passport. Do not bring personal items into the visiting area beyond what the facility allows. Most facilities permit a small amount of cash for vending machines.

Security Screening

All visitors go through security before entering the visiting area. This includes walking through a metal detector or magnetometer. Corrections officers may also conduct a pat search or use a handheld wand.
