FCI Oakdale I allows visits on weekends and federal holidays. Before you make the drive to Oakdale, two things must be in place: your name has to be on the inmate’s approved visitor list, and you need to understand the 6-point monthly system that limits how often each inmate can receive visitors. Get both sorted before planning a trip.
Get on the approved visitor list
Required before your first visit.
Understand the 6-point system
Each inmate has a monthly point limit that caps how often they can receive visitors.
Mark weekends and federal holidays
These are the available visiting days.
Bring a valid photo ID
Required for entry.
FCI Oakdale I uses a visiting point system. Each inmate receives 6 points per month. Every day you visit uses 1 point, regardless of how many approved visitors come that day. Federal holidays don’t count against the monthly total.
This means an inmate can receive visits on up to 6 different days per month — or fewer visits if family members are sharing those days. Coordinate with others on the approved list so the inmate doesn’t run out of points before the end of the month.
Getting approved is an inmate-initiated process:
The list is ordinarily limited to 10 friends and associates (immediate family is listed separately and generally isn’t subject to the same cap). If you’re denied, the inmate can request a review through their counselor.
| Day | Hours |

| Saturday | 8:15 AM – 3:00 PM CST |
| Sunday | 8:15 AM – 3:00 PM CST |
| Federal Holidays | 8:15 AM – 3:00 PM CST |
Last entry is 2:00 PM. Processing at the entry point stops one hour before closing. If you arrive after 2:00 PM, you will not be admitted regardless of how far you traveled.
BOP has a strict dress code for visitors. The following are prohibited:
Wear solid, non-khaki colors, covered shoes, and modest clothing. When in doubt, dress conservatively.
Leave everything else — phone, purse, wallet, keys — in your car or in facility lockers.
BOP can suspend visitation at any time for operational or safety reasons. Call FCI Oakdale I at (318) 335-4070 the morning of your planned visit to confirm everything is on schedule.
