Overview
Mountain View Correctional Facility runs on the same statewide phone and video system used across MDOC’s adult facilities: ConnectNetwork’s AdvancePay platform for phone accounts, and GettingOut for video visits. Phone calls run outbound only, meaning the resident places the call and a family member’s funded account covers the cost, instead of families calling in to reach a resident directly. Video visits through GettingOut are scheduled by the resident and give families an option between in-person visits.
Quick Facts
1 Phone and video system: the statewide MDOC system, using ConnectNetwork/AdvancePay for phone accounts and GettingOut for video visits.
2 Calls are outgoing only. MVCF does not accept incoming phone calls for residents.
3 Fund a ConnectNetwork AdvancePay account to receive the resident's outgoing calls, or add money to the resident's own phone account directly through MDOC's Money Deposit Service.
4 GettingOut video visits are scheduled by the resident, not by the family member directly.
5 This is the same statewide vendor pattern MDOC uses at other adult facilities, not a system unique to MVCF.
6 The general facility line for non-visit business is (207) 285-0880. This is not for scheduling calls with a resident.
7 The dedicated in-person visit scheduling line, (207) 285-0816, is also not for phone or video call setup.
8 For account-specific phone or video issues, contact ConnectNetwork or GettingOut support directly instead of the facility.
Who Runs the Phone and Video System
Mountain View Correctional Facility uses the same statewide phone and video system as other MDOC adult facilities: ConnectNetwork’s AdvancePay platform for phone accounts and GettingOut for video visits. MVCF’s own published mail and visitation page doesn’t spell out vendor names the way Maine Correctional Center’s page does, so this guide confirms the vendor names through GettingOut’s own facility directory instead of assuming them. If a vendor changes, call MVCF at (207) 285-0880 to confirm the current system before setting up an account.
Calls Are Outgoing Only
Consistent with every MDOC adult facility, MVCF’s phone system only places calls outward from the facility. You cannot call the facility and expect to be connected to a resident. Instead, the resident places the call out to you, and the cost is covered by whichever account, yours or theirs, is set up to pay for it.
Option 1. Fund an Account to Receive Calls
Families set up a ConnectNetwork AdvancePay account, funded ahead of time, that automatically covers the cost as the resident’s outgoing calls come in to your number. This is the standard way to receive calls from an MDOC facility using this system.
Option 2. Fund the Resident’s Phone Account Directly
Instead of, or in addition to, an AdvancePay account, you can add money straight to the resident’s own MDOC phone account through the Department’s Money Deposit Service, the same system used for trust account deposits. This funds the account the resident uses to place their own outgoing calls, capped at $100 per day and $200 per week. See the send money guide for the full deposit process, including the option to mail a money order instead of depositing online.
Video Visits Through GettingOut
GettingOut runs video visitation for MVCF residents. Video visits are scheduled by the resident instead of by the family member requesting one directly, so if you want a video visit, ask the resident to set it up on their end. Families can use the GettingOut app on iPhone or Android to receive the scheduled call. Search for the correct facility listing inside the app and confirm with the resident which listing applies to Mountain View.
Monitoring
Correctional phone and video systems, including MVCF’s, are typically monitored and recorded as standard practice. MVCF’s published materials don’t spell out a separate procedure for privileged attorney-client calls. If you’re an attorney or working with one, contact the facility directly at (207) 285-0880 to arrange a legal call instead of assuming the standard system will keep it private.
If Calls or Video Aren’t Connecting
Confirm that whichever account is paying for the call, your AdvancePay account or the resident’s phone account, is funded and active. If a GettingOut video visit isn’t working, confirm with the resident that they scheduled it correctly and that you’re using the right facility listing in the app. For account-specific issues, contact ConnectNetwork or GettingOut customer support directly. For questions about the facility’s phone system itself, or a resident’s specific restrictions, call Mountain View Correctional Facility at (207) 285-0880.
Two Custody Units, Same Phone System
Both MVCF’s Medium Custody Unit and its Minimum Custody Unit use the same statewide ConnectNetwork/AdvancePay phone system and the same GettingOut video option. There’s no separate phone or video setup depending on which unit your family member is in.

6 of 11 questions
Q
Who is the phone and video vendor at Mountain View Correctional Facility?
MVCF uses the statewide MDOC system: ConnectNetwork's AdvancePay platform for phone accounts and GettingOut for video visits, the same vendors used across other MDOC adult facilities.
Phone Calls
Q
Can I call MVCF to speak with a resident?
No, and there's no message-relay service either. The line runs one way at Mountain View: a resident dials out to a number, and you pick up. Nothing you dial reaches them.
Phone Calls
Q
How do I receive calls from a resident?
Set up a ConnectNetwork AdvancePay account, funded ahead of time, that automatically covers the cost as the resident's outgoing calls come in to your number.
Phone Calls
Q
Can I fund the resident's phone account directly instead?
Yes. MDOC's Money Deposit Service lets you add money straight to the resident's own phone account, capped at $100 per day and $200 per week, separate from an AdvancePay account set up to receive calls.
Phone Calls
Q
Are video calls available?
Yes, through GettingOut. Video visits are scheduled by the resident, not requested directly by the family member. Confirm with the resident which facility listing to use in the GettingOut app.
Phone Calls
Q
Does MVCF's own website name the phone and video vendor?
MVCF's Mail & Visitation page doesn't name the vendor the way some other MDOC facility pages do. This guide confirms ConnectNetwork and GettingOut through the statewide MDOC system and GettingOut's own facility directory instead of assuming a vendor.
Phone Calls
Q
Are calls monitored?
Correctional phone and video systems are typically monitored and recorded as standard practice. MVCF's published materials don't spell out a separate privileged process for attorney calls, so attorneys should contact the facility directly to arrange one.
Phone Calls
Q
What if a call or video session isn't connecting?
Confirm the paying account, your AdvancePay account or the resident's phone account, is funded and active, and that you're using the correct facility listing in the GettingOut app. For account issues, contact ConnectNetwork or GettingOut support directly. For facility-specific questions, call (207) 285-0880.
Phone Calls
Q
Do the Medium and Minimum Custody Units use different phone systems?
No. Both units use the same statewide ConnectNetwork/AdvancePay phone system and the same GettingOut video option.
Phone Calls
Q
What's the general facility phone number, and can I use it to reach a resident?
The general line is (207) 285-0880, for non-visit business. It is not a way to speak with a resident directly, since MVCF does not accept incoming calls for residents.
Phone Calls
Q
Who do I contact for an account problem with ConnectNetwork or GettingOut?
Contact ConnectNetwork or GettingOut customer support directly for account-specific issues, instead of the facility, since MVCF doesn't manage the phone or video accounts themselves.
