2. If they’ve transferred, which facility are they at now?

Step 2. If They’re Still at Oxford County Jail

If Corrections confirms your family member is still physically in South Paris, ask directly during that same call:

• Is visitation in-person or video-only?

Several inmate-lookup and jail-directory websites, none of them run by Oxford County or the State of Maine, describe Oxford County Jail’s visitation as video-based, requiring 24 hours’ advance scheduling, with each person in custody allowed two 25-minute sessions per week. We looked for this directly on the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office’s own website and could not find it published there. If They’ve Been Boarded at Another County Jail

If Corrections tells you your family member has transferred, that receiving facility runs its own visiting hours, its own approval process, and its own rules on dress code and ID. Ask the Oxford County Jail staff for the name and contact number of that facility when they confirm the transfer, since that’s the fastest way to get accurate visiting information for where your family member actually is.

According to Sun Journal news reporting from late 2025 and mid-2026, Oxford County has joined Androscoggin and Franklin counties in exploring a shared regional jail, an idea proposed by the three counties’ sheriffs to address overcrowding, rising boarding costs, and aging jail buildings. Oxford County’s commissioners set aside funding for a joint feasibility study, though the county had not formally endorsed the project as of that reporting. This is a proposal under study, not a built facility, so it doesn’t change anything about visiting today.
