Call (919) 575-4541 to confirm the current weekday schedule if you have questions.
Processing cutoff: Visitor processing stops 30 minutes before the close of visiting, meaning at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday, and holidays. On weekend mornings, processing also stops at 9:15 a.m. pending the 10:00 a.m. count. Arrive early.
The Visiting Point System
Each FCI Butner Medium I inmate is allotted 16 visiting points per calendar month.
| Visit Type | Points Used |
|---|
| Weekday visit | 1 point |
| Weekend or federal holiday visit | 4 points |
When an inmate uses all 16 points, they cannot receive additional visits that month. Coordinate with them before you make the drive so you know they still have points available.
Who Can Visit
- Up to 3 adults (age 16 and older) may visit at one time
- No limit on children under 16 who are accompanying an approved adult visitor
- All adult visitors must be on the inmate’s approved visitor list before arriving
- The inmate submits the visitor application (BP-629) from inside. The unit team reviews and approves it.
If you are not on the approved list, you will not be allowed in. Contact the inmate ahead of your visit to make sure your name is on file and approved.
