East Jersey Inmate Search

Search NJDOC

The NJDOC Offender Search lists people in New Jersey state custody. You accept a disclaimer, then search. Write down the person’s SBI number: letters need it on the first line.

The Prison and the Camp

NJDOC lists two groups at East Jersey: general population inside the main prison, and the Rahway Camp, a minimum custody camp outside the walls. The 2025 PREA audit counted about 1,280 men, ages 21 to 83.

The Rotunda

NJDOC’s PREA report calls East Jersey the state’s second-oldest institution, built in the 1800s Auburn style with a central rotunda and wings running out like spokes.

A Senior Unit

East Jersey has a 55 and older housing unit for up to 104 men with a year free of charges, according to NJDOC’s Board of Trustees.

When Records Come Down

People drop off the search one year after their custodial term ends, except people on community or parole supervision for life. Data is refreshed every two weeks.
