Book Online From Wednesday

Visitors book through the jail’s Picktime page, picktime.com/essexcountyny. Booking for the weekend opens on Wednesday, and you get a confirmation email. Problems booking: 518-873-6950.

Booking is strongly encouraged. Pre-registered visitors are guaranteed their time; walk-ins wait until everyone booked has been processed.

Arrive 30 Minutes Early

Be in the lobby 30 minutes before the visit. Arriving later than 15 minutes before the start means the visit can be denied.

ID and Children

Visitors 18 and older need official photo ID with a signature. Anyone under 18 comes with a parent or legal guardian, with documents. A child can visit a parent held at the jail if no court order stops it and the parent is named on official papers such as a birth certificate.

The Room

Each session holds up to ten people held and two visitors each, 30 people in all. Visits cannot be split, and a visit ended early counts as a full one.

Leave It Outside

Nothing goes into the visiting area: lockers or your car. Everyone is subject to search. Visitors may only leave clothing for trial, sentencing or release.

Video Visits

The Sheriff links GettingOut for video visits.

Monday Through Friday

Each person gets two one-hour visits a week, and all of them fall on weekends. During the week, Pigeonly prints a letter or photos you send from your phone and mails them to the jail.
