How to Send Mail and Photos to Lexington Assessment and Reception Center

ODOC Digital Mail

ODOC Digital Mail is the fastest way to reach an inmate at Lexington. Letters sent to the following address are scanned and delivered electronically. Write the address exactly as shown on the envelope:

Digital Mail reduces the time between mailing and delivery and helps prevent contraband from entering the facility.

Physical Mail Address

Some items must be sent directly to the physical facility address. Write the address exactly as shown on the envelope:

JPay Photos and Messaging

JPay lets you send digital photos and short messages. Photos uploaded through JPay are reviewed before delivery. To send a photo:

1. Log in to your JPay account.
2. Select the inmate.
3. Upload the photo and pay the per-photo fee.
4. The inmate receives the image within 48 hours if approved.

Physical photos are also accepted if they follow these rules: no nudity, violence, or maps; the inmate’s name and ID number printed on the back; no Polaroids or damaged prints.

Books and Magazines

Books and magazines must come directly from the publisher or a recognized retailer like Amazon or Barnes & Noble. Softcover only; hardcovers are not accepted. The inmate’s name and ID number must be written on the inside cover. Used books and library discards are not accepted.

Acceptable Mail Items

• Letters and postcards (blue or black ink only)
• JPay digital photos and messages
• Books from publishers or online retailers (softcover)
• Magazines from the publisher
• Children’s drawings and greeting cards

Prohibited Mail Items

• Cash, checks, or money orders
• Paper clips, staples, glitter, stickers, or scented materials
• Hardcovers or used books
• Polaroids or damaged photos
• Maps, blueprints, or schematics
• Content depicting nudity, violence, or gang symbols

Mail Inspection

All incoming mail is inspected for contraband and content that could threaten facility security. Inmates may lose mail privileges if prohibited items are found.

Mailing Mistakes to Avoid

• Writing the inmate’s name only without the ID number
• Using stickers or colored ink on envelopes
• Sending cash or checks by mail
• Including contraband such as stamps, stickers, or glitter
• Addressing mail to a former address or nickname
