Bowie County holds people in two separate downtown buildings, and one roster covers both. The Bowie County Detention Center at 105 West Front Street is the larger of the two, with 433 people on it on September 1, 2026. The Bi-State Justice Center at 100 North State Line, which almost everyone locally calls the Bi-State Jail, held 79.
Together they make up a single jail licensed by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards for 921 beds. That is why you will see the two names used interchangeably by directory sites, and why searching for one of them will not give you a different answer than searching for the other.
The field that resolves it is housing location. Every record on the county roster carries one, and it is the closest thing to a plain answer about which building someone is in. Read it before you plan a trip, because the two addresses are not the same place even though they sit a few blocks apart.
A Bowie County record is more detailed than most county jail listings in Texas. It gives you:
The arresting agency field is worth a second look. On September 1, 2026, the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office accounted for 286 of the arrests on the roster and Texarkana Texas Police for 255, with smaller numbers from New Boston, Wake Village, Nash, Hooks and DeKalb police and from state agencies. If the agency is not the one you expected, the person may have been picked up somewhere other than where you thought.
What the roster does not give you is anything about the case going forward. There is no bond amount, no court date, no projected release date and no charge history. For those you need the courts, not the jail.
A very recent arrest may not be on the roster yet. Booking has to finish before a record exists, and the arrest time stamped on the record is when the arrest happened, not when the listing went up.
If someone was arrested this morning and does not appear, that on its own does not mean they are not in the Bowie County Jail. Check again over the next several hours before assuming anything went wrong.
If they still do not appear after a day, there are a few ordinary explanations. They may have been released, they may have gone to a different county, or the arrest may have been made in Texarkana, Arkansas, which is a different city in a different state with its own jail. Miller County, Arkansas sits directly across the state line and does not appear on this roster at all.
Booking photos appear on many Bowie County records and are part of the public roster. They are not on every record, and the county publishes no policy explaining which ones carry a photo and which do not.
Older records are a different matter. The roster is a live list of people currently in custody, so it drops people when they are released. There is no public archive of past bookings on the county site, which is why third party sites that keep old mugshots and old booking records online are so visible in search results for this jail. Those sites are copying a snapshot of a public roster, and nothing obliges them to keep it current.
