How to Use VINE

VINE is Texas’s official victim notification and inmate locator system. It covers people held at county jails and state correctional facilities across the state.

Step 1: Go to vinelink.vineapps.com/search/TX/Person.

Step 2: Enter the person’s first and last name. Try the exact legal name first. If no results come up, try variations: a middle name as a first name, a nickname, or a different spelling.

Step 3: Review the results. VINE will show the facility name, confirming whether the person is at Fannin County Detention Center or another Texas location.

Step 4: Note the inmate ID number. You’ll need this for money deposits through JailATM and for addressing mail correctly.

If the Person Doesn’t Appear

Call the Fannin County jail directly at (903) 640-4171. A few reasons someone may not appear in VINE:

They may have been booked recently and not yet entered into the system. They may have been transferred to another facility. Their name may be spelled differently in the system. There may be a short delay after booking.

Have their full legal name ready when you call.

What Information You’ll Need Later

Once you confirm the person is at Fannin County Detention Center, write down the inmate ID number and their name exactly as it appears in VINE. You’ll use the ID number to deposit money through JailATM and to address envelopes correctly.
