FCI Victorville Medium I Visitation: How to Schedule and What to Expect

Getting on the Visitor List

Before you can visit, you must be approved. The inmate sends you a visitor information form (BP-A0224). Complete it, return it, and wait for staff to add you to the approved visiting list. A maximum of 20 people can be on an inmate’s list at one time, and visiting is ordinarily limited to people who had an established relationship with the inmate before they were incarcerated.

Visiting Schedule

FCI Victorville Medium I visits on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and all federal holidays, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Social visits won’t be processed before 8:30 a.m. or after 2:00 p.m. Because a special housing assignment or an incident can change the schedule, always confirm by calling (760) 246-2400 before you travel.

If the inmate is in the Special Housing Unit (SHU), non-contact video visits are allowed on the same Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and holiday schedule, but visits won’t be processed after 1:00 p.m., and each visit is limited to about 2 hours.

Number of Visitors

Inmates are limited to 4 adult visitors at a time. Up to 3 children under age 10 can also visit without counting toward that limit, as long as they don’t occupy a seat, if a child sits in a seat, they count as one of the 4. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Dress Code

• No excessively revealing clothing. Tops must cover the stomach, chest, and back, and tank tops or see-through fabric aren’t allowed.
• No dresses or skirts with a slit above the knee, and hemlines can’t be shorter than 2 inches above the mid-knee.
• No tight or form-fitting clothing like spandex, leggings, or jeggings, unless your lower body is otherwise covered.
• No clothing that’s also sold in commissary: plain white or brown t-shirts, sweatpants, sweat shorts, or forest-green (dark green) colored clothing, since that matches the inmate uniform.
• Closed-toe shoes are required. No flip-flops, slippers, or shoes with wheels.
• No hats, visors, head wraps, headbands, sunglasses, or hooded clothing, except religious head coverings.

Identification and What to Bring

Bring a valid photo ID: a driver’s license, state ID, or passport. Visitors under 16 accompanied by a parent or legal guardian don’t need one. You can bring a small clear plastic bag no larger than 8”x12”, up to $20 in coins for vending machines, and essential medication. Cell phones, purses, and other personal items must stay in your vehicle. Recording equipment and cameras aren’t allowed without the Warden’s written permission.

If you’re bringing an infant, you can also bring 2 diapers, an unopened package of wipes, a change of clothing, 2 clear bottles with contents, 2 unopened small jars of baby food, a receiving blanket, and a clear drinking cup, in a clear bag no larger than 12”x16”.

Visit Conduct

A brief embrace or kiss is allowed at the beginning and end of the visit. Hand-holding during the visit, and inmates putting an arm around a visitor or their chair, is not permitted. Visitors and inmates sit across from each other and aren’t allowed to move chairs or walk around the visiting room.
