Find Someone at North Kern State Prison

Step 1. Go to CIRIS

Visit ciris.mt.cdcr.ca.gov, CDCR’s single statewide search tool covering all 31 adult institutions, including North Kern State Prison.

Step 2. Search by Name or CDCR Number

Enter the person’s first and last name, or their CDCR number if you already have it from court paperwork or a prior search. The CDCR number gives you the most reliable match, and you’ll need it anyway for mail, JPay deposits, and the visitor approval process.

Step 3. Confirm the Facility Listed

CIRIS shows the person’s current institution. Confirm it lists North Kern State Prison specifically, and not Kern Valley State Prison, which is a separate CDCR prison in the same city of Delano. People also transfer out of reception quickly, so the record needs to reflect their current location before you plan a visit, deposit, or mailing.

Why Reception Center Listings Change Fast

North Kern’s main job is intake. After compiling a new arrival’s records, staff assign a classification score and send the person to a permanent institution, usually within about 90 days. That means someone you found at North Kern last week may already be on their way elsewhere. Always recheck close to any visit, deposit, or mailing.
