Setting Up Phone and Tablet Service

San Quentin Rehabilitation Center uses Securus Technologies for phone and tablet service under CDCR’s statewide contract.

Add funds to cover video calls, e-messages, and tablet content.
Add your phone number so the incarcerated person can call you. They must place the call.

What Calls Cost

Audio calls are free to you and the incarcerated person, and are limited to 15 minutes.
Video calls cost $0.10 a minute after the first 30 free minutes each month.
E-messages cost $0.03 each after the first 20 free messages each month, and are limited to 2,000 characters.
Tablets include free e-book, audio book, and podcast subscriptions. Music subscriptions start at $5.49 a month, movies range from $1.99 to $17.99, and games cost $0.99 each.
All calls are recorded and monitored.

Switching from ViaPath

CDCR awarded a new statewide contract to Securus Technologies in February 2025, but each institution transitioned on its own schedule. San Quentin’s phone service switched to Securus on May 26, 2026, with tablets following May 27-29, 2026. Photos, e-messages, and media purchased through the previous ViaPath system did not carry over to the new tablets, so if you funded a ViaPath account before the switch, that content is gone.
