Twin Towers Correctional Facility Visitation: How to Schedule and What to Expect

Visiting Days and Hours

Twin Towers splits its visiting schedule by the inmate’s gender:

• Male inmates: Saturday and Monday
• Female inmates: Sunday and Tuesday

Both towers follow the same hours on their visiting days: Saturday and Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Inmate workers can be visited any weekday the facility is open, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., but only once a day. The visiting lobbies themselves open earlier and close later than the actual visiting hours, to give the public time to check in and process out.

Public visiting is also held on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, if the holiday falls on a day the facility normally visits.

The last new visiting request of the day is taken at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and 5:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.

How to Schedule a Visit

Visits are by appointment only. Book through the visitor kiosk at visit.lasd.org up to seven days in advance. Walk-in visits are available only on a very limited basis, so plan on scheduling ahead. All visitors, including minors, must register in the visitation system before they can book or be a walk-in. Registration kiosks are available in person at Twin Towers, Men’s Central Jail, and the Century Regional Detention Facility.

If you need to cancel, do it at least 6 hours before your appointment. If you don’t show up or check in late, the visit is documented as a no-show, canceled, and still counts toward the inmate’s two visits for the week.

Video Visits

How Many Visitors and How Long

Each inmate is allowed two 30-minute visits per week, with no more than one per day. Each visiting session is limited to 2 visitors total, and a child counts as a visitor no matter their age. Inmate workers may bring up to 3 visitors, but only on days they aren’t scheduled to work.

Visits at Twin Towers are non-contact. Inmates are handcuffed to a chain at their visiting stool for the entire session.

Who Can Visit

• Unescorted visitors must be at least 16.
• Minors must be closely supervised by an adult, except that a minor aged 12 to 15 visiting their own incarcerated parent can visit without adult supervision if the Facility Unit Commander approves it in advance.
• Visitors with a prior felony conviction, or who are on supervised parole or probation, have active wants or warrants, or have a failure to appear, generally cannot visit.
• An ex-felon or parolee can still visit with a letter of approval from the Unit Commander, presented when the visiting pass is submitted.
• Being formerly incarcerated in the LA County jail system by itself is never grounds to deny someone a visit, regardless of when they were released.

Identification

Bring one of the following, current and undamaged: a state driver’s license, state ID card, an interim driver’s license paired with a scanned DMV photo, military ID, passport, resident alien ID card, or a consulate-issued ID card. Minors don’t need ID unless staff believe someone claiming to be a minor is actually 18 or older, in which case a school ID can help confirm age. Expired, altered, or damaged ID isn’t accepted, and visitors without valid ID won’t be let into the visiting area.

Dress Code and What to Bring

• No visible undergarments or private parts, including no exposed buttock crease.
• No see-through clothing, low-cut tops, short dresses, or short shorts.
• No gang-related attire, colors, or paraphernalia.
• No hats, beanies, do-rags, or sunglasses, unless prescribed.

Secure your personal belongings, phone, purse, keys, food, and anything else, in a locker before going through the metal detector. You can keep your ID and a single locker key or vehicle key with you. Cameras, recording devices, radios, and other electronics are not allowed in the visiting area.

Before You Go

• Arrive at least 1 hour before your appointment. You get a 30-minute grace period, but checking in must be complete by 30 minutes before your visit time.
• Bring valid government photo ID.
• Follow the dress code, and leave prohibited items in your car.
• All visitors are subject to search, including a metal detector and possible pat-down, at any time on jail grounds.
