Visiting an inmate at FCI Oakdale II takes preparation. You need to be on the approved visitor list before you show up, and the inmate must have visiting points available. Both requirements are inmate-initiated — meaning the inmate needs to start the process on their end. Plan ahead, especially for first-time visits, which require a background check before approval.

FCI Oakdale II follows BOP’s visiting point system. Each inmate starts each month with 6 visiting points. Each day a visitor comes uses 1 point, regardless of how many people come that day. Federal holidays don’t count against the monthly total.
This means an inmate can have visitors on up to 6 days per month. If multiple family members visit on the same day, it still only costs 1 point. Coordinate with others on the approved list to make the most of the month.
The approval process is started by the inmate:
The friend/associate list is typically limited to 10 people. Immediate family is handled separately and isn’t subject to the same cap. If denied, the inmate can request a review through their counselor.
| Day | Hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday | 8:15 AM – 3:00 PM CST |
| Sunday | 8:15 AM – 3:00 PM CST |
| Federal Holidays | 8:15 AM – 3:00 PM CST |
Visitor processing stops one hour before closing — meaning the last entry is 2:00 PM. If you arrive at 2:01 PM, you will not be admitted. Build in travel time.
BOP enforces a strict dress code. The following items are not allowed:
Choose covered shoes, modest non-khaki clothing, and solid colors. If you’re unsure, dress conservatively.
Everything else — phone, purse, wallet, car keys — stays in your vehicle or facility lockers.
BOP can suspend visitation for security or operational reasons. Call FCI Oakdale II at (318) 335-4466 the morning of your planned visit to confirm visitation is open.
