How to Search the Rapides Parish LAVNS Roster

The LAVNS system is the official jail roster for Rapides Parish. Here is how to use it.

Step 1: Go to rapides.lavns.org. The page loads a public roster of current inmates.

Step 2: Search or browse by name. You can browse alphabetically or type a name to filter the list. Enter the inmate’s last name to narrow the results.

Step 3: Find the inmate in the results. Click the name to see their full record, including their booking number, current housing facility, and custody status.

Step 4: Write down the booking number. You’ll need this to send money through Correct Commissary, to address mail to the correct booking number, and to set up a City Tele Coin calling account.

Three Facilities in Rapides Parish

Rapides Parish operates three detention centers in the Alexandria area. The LAVNS roster shows which facility each person is assigned to. If you’re searching for someone and they appear at a different address than you expected, the roster is showing their current location. The three facilities are:

Detention Center I at 700 Murray Street handles primary intake and booking. Detention Center II at 400 John Allison Drive and Detention Center III at 7400 Academy Drive hold the broader inmate population.

What to Do If Someone Doesn’t Appear

If your search doesn’t return the person you’re looking for, a few things may explain it.

They may have been released or transferred to a state DOC facility. If they were sentenced to serve time at a Louisiana state prison, they will no longer appear in the parish roster.

They may have been booked recently. New bookings can take a short time before appearing in the system.
