How to Send Money to Androscoggin County Jail Through Access Corrections

Step 1. Choose a Deposit Method

Androscoggin County Jail offers three ways to fund a detainee’s account:

1. Online through Access Corrections. Set up an account and deposit by debit or credit card.
2. By phone at 866-345-1884. Access Corrections also takes deposits over the phone.
3. In person at the lobby kiosk. A self-service kiosk inside the jail’s lobby accepts deposits without needing to go through Access Corrections online.

Deposit Limits

The weekly deposit limit is $200 per account. If you’re trying to send more than that in a single week, plan to spread deposits across multiple weeks instead.

What’s Accepted, and What’s Not

Cash is not accepted at the jail under any circumstance. Where checks are accepted, they must be made payable to Keefe Commissary Services, the vendor that runs the jail’s commissary program, not to the jail or the county directly. Confirm current rules on money orders by calling (207) 753-2500, ext. 1992 before mailing anything, since accepted payment methods can change.

What the Money Covers

Funds deposited to a detainee’s account can be used for:

• Commissary purchases, including food, hygiene items, and clothing
• Phone time, to keep an account funded for outgoing calls
• Medical copays
• Haircuts

Phone Account vs. Commissary Account

Securus, the jail’s phone provider, runs its own AdvanceConnect account specifically for funding phone calls. This is separate from a general Access Corrections deposit, though we could not confirm from an official source whether the two systems are fully separate accounts or whether funds move between them. If a Deposit Fails or Doesn’t Post

Call Access Corrections directly using the number on their deposit confirmation, or call the jail at (207) 753-2500, ext. 1992 to ask staff to check whether a deposit posted to the correct account. Keep any transaction confirmation number from your deposit in case you need to reference it.

What Happens to Funds if Someone Transfers or Is Released

We could not confirm Androscoggin County’s specific policy on what happens to a detainee’s account balance if they transfer to another facility or are released. Since the jail sometimes boards detainees at other Maine jails when it’s over capacity, ask staff about this directly if a transfer seems possible, so you know whether funds follow the person automatically or need to be reclaimed.
