Step 1. Call to Schedule Your Non-Contact Visit

Kennebec County Correctional Facility takes non-contact visit requests only once a week. Call (207) 623-2270 ext. 1109 on Monday between 8 a.m. and noon to schedule your visit for that week. If you miss this window, you’ll need to wait until the following Monday to schedule again.

Step 2. Show Up on Time, With ID

Bring a valid passport, military ID, or state-issued photo ID to every visit. Every visit lasts exactly one hour. If you arrive late, the facility does not extend the visit past its originally scheduled end time, so plan to arrive early.

Non-Contact Visiting Schedule

Based on the facility’s official Inmate Visitation page, non-contact visits run Tuesday through Saturday in two sessions:

The Sheriff’s Office’s published page also lists a second set of evening time blocks (Monday-Friday 6:45 p.m.-7:45 p.m., 8:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., and 9:15 p.m.-10:15 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m.-7:45 p.m., 8:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., and 9:15 p.m.-10:15 p.m.) directly beneath the non-contact schedule, without clearly separating which visit type each block applies to. Because the facility’s own published schedule groups this information ambiguously, call (207) 623-2270 ext. 1109 when you schedule to confirm exactly which time block applies to your visit.

How Contact Visits Work

Contact visits at Kennebec County Correctional Facility are not something you can request directly. Based on the official policy:

1. The inmate must have been in custody at Kennebec County Correctional Facility for at least 30 days.
2. The inmate submits a Request for Contact Visit form to facility staff.
3. If approved, it’s the inmate’s responsibility to notify you of the date and time.
4. You cannot call ahead to schedule a contact visit yourself. The approval and scheduling process starts on the inmate’s end.

Contact Visit Schedule by Housing Type

The facility’s official visiting schedule breaks contact visits out by housing group:

Visiting Rules

• Dress code. Clothing must cover the upper and lower body at all times. Bare tops and bare feet are not allowed. Halter tops, tank tops, low-cut tops, tube tops, bathing suits, and short skirts or shorts are all prohibited.
• ID requirement. Every visitor needs a valid passport, military ID, or state-issued photo ID.
• First 72 hours. Family and friends cannot visit an inmate during their first 72 hours in custody.
• Visitor limits. No more than two adults and two children under 18 are allowed per visit, due to space constraints.
• Minors. Any visitor under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, or be an emancipated individual with documentation showing that status. Children must stay under control during the visit, and sitting or standing on visitation tables is not allowed.
• Conduct. Outbursts, loud talking, lewd or indecent behavior, or other unruly conduct will end the visit immediately.
• Search. Visitors and inmates are subject to a search before or after a visit, including a metal detector scan. No personal items are allowed in the visiting area.
• Former inmates. Anyone previously incarcerated at Kennebec County Correctional Facility must wait 30 days after release, and get approval from the Classifications Officer, before visiting again.
• Juveniles. Minors can only visit if accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.
• Canceling. If you can’t make your scheduled visit, call ahead so the facility can offer that time slot to someone else.

No Standalone Family Handbook Found… and What Actually Exists

We checked specifically for a downloadable family or inmate handbook PDF, and for a specific visitor application form, per our standard research process. We did not find a facility-specific inmate or family handbook published on the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office website. Non-contact visit scheduling happens by phone during the Monday sign-up window described above, not through a downloadable form. Contact visits do require a named Request for Contact Visit form, but the Sheriff’s Office doesn’t provide that form as a downloadable document online, and it’s the inmate, not the visitor, who submits it.
