Keefe Commissary Network offers 342 available items, compared to 207 from the other bidder that was considered, and it already serves 11 other Maine counties plus the Maine Department of Corrections. Before this change, the jail used TouchPay for commissary deposits, a fact confirmed by the Sheriff’s Office’s own materials from prior years.

York County’s own announcement names Keefe Commissary Network as the vendor but doesn’t publish the specific deposit website, phone number, fee schedule, or deposit limits for York County Jail. Keefe Commissary Network operates nationally under different account systems depending on the facility’s contract, so a generic Keefe website or app found through a search engine may not be the correct one for this specific jail. Call the jail directly instead of guessing.

What to Ask When You Call

1. Is Keefe Commissary Network still the current commissary vendor?
2. What’s the exact website, app, or phone number to make a deposit?
3. Can I deposit online, by phone, by mail, or in person at a lobby kiosk?
4. Is there a deposit fee, and if so, how much?
5. Is there a minimum or maximum deposit amount?
6. Does the same account cover phone or tablet access, or is that a separate system?
7. What information do I need (the inmate’s full legal name, date of birth, or inmate ID number)?

Posting Bail

Bail amounts are typically set by a judge or bail commissioner and can usually be posted in cash at the jail, though some jurisdictions also accept an approved bail bond. The Inmate Benefit Fund

Maine law requires that revenue jails earn from services like commissary and phone contracts go into an Inmate Benefit Fund, spent on things that benefit the people incarcerated there. York County’s own county manager has confirmed publicly that the county’s phone commission revenue funds things like cable and newspaper subscriptions, chaplain services, seasonally appropriate clothing for people being released, haircut tools, and law library access. This same general framework typically applies to commissary commissions as well, though the specific programs funded by the new Keefe Commissary Network contract aren’t itemized publicly yet.

What Happens If Someone Transfers

If your family member is later moved to a Maine Department of Corrections facility, such as after being sentenced to a longer term, any funds on their York County Jail commissary account may not automatically transfer with them.
