Who Can Deposit
Only approved visitors may deposit money to a resident’s account at NC DAC facilities. If you are not on the approved visitor list, your deposit may be rejected. Start the visitor application process by asking the resident to mail you a blank form. See the visitation guide for details.
What the Money Is Used For
Funds go into the resident’s trust account. They can use it for:
Commissary items: food, hygiene products, stationery, and other approved goods
For residents on work release, commissary and personal needs are still funded through this account for items available inside the facility.
Processing Time
Online and phone deposits are typically available within minutes to a few hours. Western Union and money order deposits take longer, often one to three business days after the facility receives and processes them. If a deposit does not appear after several days, call ConnectNetwork support at 877-650-4249.
Troubleshooting a Failed Deposit
If a deposit fails or does not reach the account:
Confirm the full legal name and OPUS number are correct
Confirm you are an approved visitor on the resident’s list
Call ConnectNetwork support at 877-650-4249
Call Carteret at (252) 223-5100 if ConnectNetwork cannot resolve it
What Happens to Funds During a Transfer
If the resident transfers to another NC DAC facility, funds in the trust account generally follow them. The account is tied to their OPUS number, not to a specific facility. Processing can take a few days after a transfer. If funds appear missing after a transfer, contact ConnectNetwork at 877-650-4249.
