Money for Craven Correctional Institution goes through ViaPath/ConnectNetwork (GTL). You can deposit online at connectnetwork.com, through the ConnectNetwork app, by phone, via Western Union, or by money order. You need the person’s full legal name and OPUS Number for every deposit. Only approved visitors can send funds. Money covers commissary purchases, phone time through ViaPath, and other authorized items.
Craven Correctional Institution uses ViaPath/GTL (operating under the ConnectNetwork brand) for all inmate fund deposits. The same vendor handles trust fund deposits for commissary and AdvancePay deposits for phone calls. These are typically separate balances, so a commissary deposit does not automatically fund phone calls and vice versa.
You need two pieces of information for every deposit: the person’s full legal name and their OPUS Number. Find the OPUS Number with the NC OPI inmate search. A deposit without the correct OPUS Number may be delayed or returned.
Only approved visitors may deposit funds. If you are not on the person’s approved visitor list, your deposit may be rejected. Get on the list first. See the visitation guide for how the approval process works.
Because Craven is an intake facility, your loved one may transfer to a permanent facility within 3 to 4 weeks of arrival. The OPUS Number stays the same after a transfer. Funds deposited before a transfer typically move with the person, but confirm with ConnectNetwork or the receiving facility that the balance transferred correctly.
Go to connectnetwork.com, create a free account if you do not have one, find Craven Correctional Institution, enter the person’s name and OPUS Number, choose an amount, and pay with a debit or credit card. Deposits typically post within a few hours. Service fees range from $2.48 to $8.16 depending on the amount. Fees are shown before you confirm.
Download the ConnectNetwork app from your device’s app store. The process mirrors the website: find the facility, enter the person’s information, choose an amount, and pay. The app is useful for quick repeat deposits once your account is set up.
Call the Trust Fund line at 888-428-1845 for general commissary deposits. For AdvancePay (phone call funding specifically), call 800-483-8314. Have the person’s OPUS Number ready. Phone deposit fees range from $3.27 to $8.95 depending on the amount.
Use Western Union to send a deposit with payment code NCDAC TRUST. Western Union charges a flat $3.00 fee. You can complete this at a Western Union agent location or online at westernunion.com. Include the person’s full legal name and OPUS Number.

Money orders carry no service fee. Write the person’s full legal name and OPUS Number on the memo line. Allow extra time for mail delivery and processing before the funds appear.
Funds in the trust account cover commissary items such as food, hygiene products, clothing, and other approved goods available through the facility store. Phone time through ViaPath is funded separately through AdvancePay. See the phone calls guide for how calling works.
For approved packages, use ncinmatepackage.com (Union Supply Direct). Families cannot ship packages directly to the facility. Check the vendor site for approved items and how to place an order.
If someone is on a disciplinary hold or has court-ordered restitution, a portion of incoming funds may be redirected automatically. This happens without notice from the facility. If a deposit is deducted faster than expected, ask the person about any active holds.
When the person transfers from Craven to a permanent facility, funds typically move with them. Confirm with ConnectNetwork or the receiving facility that the balance transferred correctly.
