Visiting FCI Butner Medium II is open on Saturday, Sunday, and all federal holidays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There is no weekday visiting for general population inmates. This facility uses a 16-point monthly visit system that is unique to FCI Butner Medium II. Each person gets 16 points per calendar month, each visit day costs 4 points, and federal holidays do not cost any points. That means up to 4 visits per month on weekends, or more if federal holidays fall in the same month.

| Day | Hours |

FCI Butner Medium II runs a visiting point system that the other three Butner institutions (FCI Butner Low, FCI Butner Medium I, and FMC Butner) do not use. Here is how it works:
Example: If July has the Fourth of July on a Saturday, you could visit that Saturday (0 points), the following Saturday (4 points), Sunday the 13th (4 points), Saturday the 19th (4 points), and Sunday the 20th (4 points). That is 5 visits using only 16 points because the holiday was free.
Points reset at the start of each new calendar month. Unused points do not carry over.
FCI Butner Medium II has specific limits on how many people can visit at once:
If your group would exceed these limits, for example 4 adults and 3 children (7 total), that requires prior written approval from both the Unit Manager and the Captain before the visit. Do not show up and assume you will be accommodated.
Example of an allowed group: 3 adults plus 3 children = 6 total. Allowed.
Example of a group needing approval: 4 adults plus 3 children = 7 total. Prior approval required.
All visitors 16 and older must present a valid government-issued photo ID. Acceptable forms include:
Expired IDs are not accepted. Altered or damaged IDs are not accepted. If your only ID is expired, contact the facility at (919) 575-8000 before you travel.
Every visitor must sign Form BP-224, Notification to Visitor, in the lobby before entering the visiting area. This form confirms you understand the facility rules, including that introducing contraband is a federal offense. Have everyone in your group ready to sign when you arrive.
The facility enforces a dress code. Visits can be denied or terminated if you are not dressed appropriately. Here is what is and is not allowed:
