How to Send Money to Forsyth Correctional Center

There are four ways to deposit money onto a Forsyth resident’s account. All methods require the person’s full legal name and their NC OPUS number. Find the OPUS number using the NC OPI inmate search.

Option 1. Online Through ConnectNetwork.com

This is the fastest method for most people.

1. Go to ConnectNetwork.com.
2. Create a free account or log in if you already have one.
3. Search for Forsyth Correctional Center under North Carolina.
4. Enter the person’s full legal name and OPUS number.
5. Choose a deposit amount and pay with a debit or credit card.
6. Confirm the transaction. Keep your confirmation number.

Fees: Online deposits cost between $2.48 and $8.16 depending on the amount. The fee is shown before you confirm.

Deposits typically post within a few hours, though processing times can vary.

Option 2. By Phone

Call ViaPath/ConnectNetwork to deposit by phone:

• Trust account deposits: 888-428-1845
• AdvancePay deposits: 800-483-8314

Have the person’s name, OPUS number, and your payment card ready.

Fees: Phone deposits cost between $3.27 and $8.95 depending on the amount.

Option 3. Western Union

You can send money via Western Union using the NC DAC code.

1. Go to a Western Union location or use westernunion.com.
2. Use code NCDAC TRUST as the payee.
3. Provide the person’s full name and OPUS number.
4. Pay the deposit amount plus the Western Union fee.

Fee: $3.00 per transaction.

Option 4. Money Order (Free)

This is the only free option. Mail a money order payable to:

Write the person’s full name and OPUS number in the memo line of the money order. Include a note with the facility name (Forsyth Correctional Center) and the person’s OPUS number so the payment routes correctly.

No fee for money orders, but processing takes longer than electronic options. Allow several business days for the deposit to post.

What the Money Is Used For

Funds go onto the person’s trust account. From there, they can use it for:

• Commissary: food, hygiene products, clothing, and other approved items purchased from the facility store
• Phone calls: through ViaPath/GTL via ConnectNetwork (see the phone calls guide)
• Video visits: through the Getting Out Visits app
• Other authorized purchases at Forsyth

For work release residents, the trust account also handles income and restitution tracking. The facility manages those deductions separately, but deposits still go through the same ConnectNetwork process.

Troubleshooting a Failed Deposit

If a deposit does not post within 48 hours:

1. Check that you used the correct OPUS number. A wrong number is the most common reason deposits go missing.
2. Confirm the person is still at Forsyth using the NC OPI search. If they transferred, the deposit may need to be rerouted.
3. Call ConnectNetwork support at 877-650-4249.
4. Call Forsyth at (336) 896-7041 if ConnectNetwork support cannot resolve it.

What Happens If the Person Transfers

If the person transfers to a different NC DAC facility, their trust account balance generally transfers with them. Contact ConnectNetwork support at 877-650-4249 if you need to confirm account status after a transfer.

Do Not Send Cash

Do not put cash in a letter or envelope. Cash sent through the mail will not reach the person’s account and may be confiscated. Use one of the four deposit methods above.
