Q
Is Granville CI the same as the Butner federal prison complex?
No. Granville Correctional Institution is a North Carolina state prison operated by NC DAC at 1001 Veazey Road, Butner, NC 27509. The Butner federal complex (FCI Butner Low, FCI Butner Medium I, FCI Butner Medium II, FMC Butner) is a separate group of BOP facilities located elsewhere in Butner. The inmate search tools, phone systems, mailing addresses, and money services are completely different. If your family member is in federal custody, search at bop.gov/inmateloc using a BOP Register Number, not the NC OPI.
