How to Search

Go to cc.southernsoftware.com/bookingsearch/index.php?AgencyID=HarnettCoNC. The page loads the Harnett County booking roster hosted through Southern Software. You can filter by:

• Name: Enter a first name, last name, or both.
• Confinements: Filter by current or past bookings.
• Date range: Narrow results to a specific booking period.
• Charges: Search by charge type if you know the offense.
• Arresting agency: Filter by the agency that made the arrest.

For most family searches, entering the last name is the fastest starting point. The roster returns everyone in custody matching your search.

What the Search Shows

When you find the person, the booking record includes:

• Full legal name
• Inmate ID number
• Booking date
• Charges and bond status
• Current confinement status

Write down the inmate ID number. You need it every time you send money, address a letter, or confirm the person’s location before a visit.

Timing: When Records Appear

The Southern Software roster is updated as bookings are processed, but it is not instant. Keep these timelines in mind:

• Newly booked inmates: May take several hours to appear after booking and processing. If someone was recently arrested, wait a few hours and search again.
• Recently released: Inmates who have been released will no longer show as active. If you cannot find someone you expected to be there, they may have been released.
• Transfers: If a person has been transferred to another facility, they will not appear on this roster. Call (910) 893-0257 to confirm a transfer and get the name of the receiving facility.

Why Someone Might Not Appear

If your search returns no results, there are several possible reasons:

• Too soon after booking. Wait a few hours and search again.
• Name spelling. Try alternate spellings or search by last name only.
• They were released. Releases can happen at any hour. Call to confirm.
• They were transferred. State-sentenced inmates may be moved to a state facility. Federal detainees may be moved to a BOP facility.
• They were never held here. Confirm with the arresting agency where the person was taken.

3. Check the BOP inmate locator at bop.gov/inmateloc if the person faces federal charges.

Being transferred does not mean something is wrong. It usually means the person has been moved for court, medical care, or to a permanent housing assignment.
