This rule applies to all deposit methods: online, by phone, by Western Union, and by money order.
What You Always Need
Every deposit requires:
The person’s full legal name (as it appears in the NC DAC system)
Using the wrong name or OPUS number can delay or return the deposit. Double-check both before submitting.
Option 1. Online at ConnectNetwork.com
Go to ConnectNetwork.com, create a free account if you do not have one, search for Mountain View Correctional Institution, enter the person’s OPUS number and name, choose an amount, and pay with a debit or credit card. Deposits typically post within a few hours. A service fee applies and is shown before you confirm.
Fees for online deposits:
$2.48 to $8.16 depending on the amount
Option 2. By Phone
Call ViaPath/ConnectNetwork at:
888-428-1845 for Trust account deposits
800-483-8314 for AdvancePay deposits
Fees for phone deposits:
$3.27 to $8.95 depending on the amount
Have the person’s OPUS number ready before you call.
Option 3. Western Union
Send via Western Union using the code NCDAC TRUST. You can do this at any Western Union location or online at westernunion.com.
Fee: $3.00
When prompted, use the name and code exactly as listed: NCDAC TRUST. Include the person’s full name and OPUS number in the transaction details.
Option 4. Money Order (Free)
Money orders are the only fee-free option. Make the money order out to TouchPay Holdings LLC and mail it to:
TouchPay Holdings LLC
PO Box 174
Houston, TX 77001-0174
Write the person’s full name and OPUS number clearly on the money order memo line and include a note inside the envelope with the same information. Allow extra processing time for mailed deposits compared to online or phone options.
What the Money Covers
Funds deposited through ConnectNetwork go to the person’s trust account at Mountain View. They can use this money for:
Commissary purchases: food, hygiene products, writing supplies, and other approved items available through the facility store
Phone calls: calls through ViaPath/GTL run through a ConnectNetwork account at $0.10 per minute (see the phone calls guide for setup)
The person manages their account from inside. They decide how to split funds between commissary and phone. If you want to make sure money goes specifically toward phone calls, you can set up a separate phone prepaid account through ConnectNetwork.
Account Limits and Restrictions
NC DAC sets limits on how much money can be in a person’s trust account at one time. If the account is at its limit, a deposit may be held or returned. If a deposit is not posting, call ConnectNetwork support at 877-650-4249.
What Happens If the Person Transfers
If the person moves to a different facility, their trust account balance transfers with them. You do not need to cancel or restart anything. Deposits should continue going to their OPUS number regardless of location. Always confirm their current location with the NC OPI inmate search so you are not relying on outdated information.
Troubleshooting a Failed Deposit
If a deposit does not post within 24 hours:
Confirm the OPUS number was correct
Check that you are on the approved visitor list
Check whether the trust account is at its limit
Call ConnectNetwork support at 877-650-4249
Do not submit a second deposit until you have confirmed the first one did not process. Duplicate deposits can be difficult to reverse.
