How Money Works at Scotland CI
Scotland Correctional Institution uses ViaPath/GTL, operating as ConnectNetwork, for all fund deposits. The same vendor handles trust fund deposits for commissary and AdvancePay deposits for phone calls. These may be separate balances, so confirm with ConnectNetwork if you are unsure where a deposit lands.
You need two things for every deposit: the person’s full legal name and their OPUS Number. Find the OPUS Number using the NC OPI inmate search. A deposit without the correct OPUS Number can be delayed or returned.
Important: Only approved visitors can send money to someone at Scotland CI. If you are not on the approved visitor list, your deposit may be rejected.
Option 1: Online at ConnectNetwork.com
Go to connectnetwork.com, create a free account if you do not have one, find Scotland Correctional Institution, enter the person’s name and OPUS Number, choose an amount, and pay with a debit or credit card. Deposits typically post within a few hours. Service fees range from $2.48 to $8.16 depending on the amount and are shown before you confirm.
Option 2: ConnectNetwork App
Download the ConnectNetwork app on your phone or tablet. Log in or create an account, find Scotland Correctional Institution, and follow the same steps as the online option. The app is available for iOS and Android.
Option 3: Phone Deposit
Call the ConnectNetwork phone line to make a deposit without going online:
- Trust Fund (commissary): 888-428-1845
- AdvancePay (phone calls): 800-483-8314
Have the person’s full legal name, OPUS Number, and your payment information ready. Service fees range from $3.27 to $8.95 by phone.
Option 4: Western Union
Use Western Union’s inmate deposit service. The payment code is NCDAC TRUST. You can send online at westernunion.com or at a Western Union location. The service fee is $3.00. Processing may take one to two business days.
Option 5: Money Order (Free)
Mail a money order payable to TouchPay Holdings LLC to:
TouchPay Holdings LLC
PO Box 174
Houston, TX 77001-0174
Include the person’s full legal name and OPUS Number on the memo line and on a note inside the envelope. Money orders have no service fee, but allow extra time for mail delivery and processing.
What the Money Covers
Funds deposited through ConnectNetwork go toward commissary purchases and, if added to AdvancePay, phone calls. Commissary at Scotland CI may include food items, hygiene products, writing supplies, and other approved goods. Some items are ordered weekly and delivered on a set schedule.
If you want to fund phone calls specifically, add money to AdvancePay by calling 800-483-8314 or selecting the AdvancePay option at connectnetwork.com.
NC Inmate Package Program
Families can order approved items through the NC Inmate Package program at ncinmatepackage.com. This is not the same as a ConnectNetwork deposit. You order from a pre-approved catalog and the items ship to Scotland CI. Check the site for current catalog items, ordering windows, and shipping schedules.
If a Deposit Does Not Post
If a deposit does not show up within 24 to 48 hours, check that the OPUS Number and name match exactly. Then call ViaPath support at 877-650-4249. Have your transaction reference number ready.
What Happens When Someone Transfers
If the person transfers to another NC facility, their trust fund balance moves with them. Any pending AdvancePay deposits may take a bit longer to transfer. Contact ConnectNetwork at 877-650-4249 if funds do not appear after a transfer.
Account Restrictions
Deposits may be frozen or held if the person has court-ordered fines, restitution, or facility fees deducted from their account. NC DAC can withhold a portion of deposits for these obligations. If the balance seems lower than expected, call the facility at (910) 390-4700 for an explanation.
