How Money Works at Tabor CI
Tabor Correctional Institution uses ViaPath/GTL (operating as ConnectNetwork) for all inmate fund deposits. The same vendor handles trust fund deposits (for commissary) and AdvancePay deposits (for phone calls). These may be separate balances depending on how funds are applied, so confirm with the facility or ConnectNetwork if you are unsure where the money lands.
You need two things for every deposit: the person’s full legal name and their OPUS Number. Find the OPUS Number using the NC OPI inmate search. A deposit without the correct OPUS Number can be delayed or returned.
Important: Only approved visitors can send money to someone at Tabor CI. If you are not on the approved visitor list, your deposit may be rejected.
Option 1: Online at ConnectNetwork.com
Go to connectnetwork.com, create a free account if you do not have one, find Tabor Correctional Institution, enter the person’s name and OPUS Number, choose an amount, and pay with a debit or credit card. Deposits typically post within a few hours. Service fees range from $2.48 to $8.16 depending on the amount, and are shown before you confirm.
Option 2: ConnectNetwork App
Download the ConnectNetwork app from your device’s app store. The process mirrors the website: find the facility, enter the person’s information, choose an amount, and pay. The app is useful for quick repeat deposits once your account is set up.
Option 3: Phone
Call the Trust Fund line at 888-428-1845 for general commissary deposits. For AdvancePay (phone call funding), call 800-483-8314. Have the person’s OPUS Number ready. Phone deposit fees range from $3.27 to $8.95 depending on the amount.
Option 4: Western Union
Use Western Union to send a deposit with payment code NCDAC TRUST. Western Union charges a flat $3.00 fee. You can complete this at a Western Union agent location or online at westernunion.com. Reference the person’s name and OPUS Number.
Option 5: Money Order (Free)
Mail a money order payable to TouchPay to:
TouchPay Holdings LLC
PO Box 174
Houston, TX 77001-0174
Money orders carry no service fee. Write the person’s full legal name and OPUS Number on the memo line. Allow extra time for mail and processing.
What the Money Covers
Funds in the trust account cover commissary items like food, hygiene products, clothing, and other approved goods. Phone time through ViaPath is funded separately through AdvancePay. See the phone calls guide for how calling works. Commissary ordering typically happens on a weekly schedule set by the facility.
Package Orders
For approved packages, use ncinmatepackage.com (Union Supply Direct). Not all items can be sent directly by families. Check the package vendor site for what is allowed and how to order.
Account Holds and Special Circumstances
If someone is on a disciplinary hold or has court-ordered restitution, part of their incoming funds may be redirected automatically. Funds typically transfer with the person if they are moved to another NC DAC facility, but it is worth confirming with the facility or ConnectNetwork during a transfer.
Troubleshooting a Failed Deposit
If a deposit does not post or is returned, call ViaPath at 877-650-4249. Have your deposit confirmation number, the person’s OPUS Number, and the deposit amount ready. Common issues include a name mismatch, an incorrect OPUS Number, or an account hold.
