Visiting Edna Mahan

Book 48 Hours Ahead

Every NJDOC visit is by appointment, booked at least 48 hours ahead, and every visitor, adult or child, must be on the person’s approved visit list.

Since June 3, 2024, all Edna Mahan bookings go to (908) 735-7111, ext. 3318, Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Video Visits

NJDOC’s ViaPath video visits start at Edna Mahan, the week of September 21, 2026.

• Register at njdoc.gtlvisitme.com, a separate account from GettingOut and ConnectNetwork, with a photo of the front and back of your ID. Staff review it.
• Your profile must match the visit list. Minors cannot book.
• Each woman gets two video visits a week. None on weekends or holidays.
• If a paid video visit does not happen, ViaPath gives a credit or refund.

ID

A current photo driver’s license or MVC non-driver ID, photo Welfare or Medicaid card, employment photo ID, or passport.

Children

Relatives under 18 come with an adult relative, who brings written parental consent.

What to Wear

No skin-tight, sheer or see-through clothing (leggings and rompers included), bare shoulders, midriffs or cleavage, tank or crop tops, hoodies, scrubs, khaki, orange, gray or camouflage, flip-flops or slides.

Lockers

Lockers cost $0.50 in quarters, and a change machine is on site.

Days With No Visit on Her Unit

Video visits are capped at two a week, and C Cottage has no visits at all on Tuesday. On the other days, Pigeonly sends a letter or photos you pick on your phone, printed and mailed with no stamps needed.
