Visiting Hours

FCI Lewisburg holds visits Saturday, Sunday, and federal holidays, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, confirmed directly from the facility’s official visiting regulations. The visiting room is closed the rest of the week, Monday through Friday, with federal holidays as the only exception. Visitors arriving after 2:30 PM will not be admitted, and processing pauses during the 10:00 AM inmate count, so plan to arrive well before then.

Monthly Visit Limits

The main penitentiary caps visits at 5 per month to avoid overcrowding in the visiting room. The adjacent Federal Prison Camp and Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) unit run on a separate point system: each inmate gets 8 points per month, and every weekend or holiday visit costs 1 point regardless of how long it lasts. Once the monthly points are used up, no more camp visits are permitted until the following month.

Step 1. Get Form BP-A0629 Started

Every person who wants to visit, including immediate family, must be listed on Form BP-A0629 (Visitor Information). The inmate submits this to their assigned counselor, who runs a background check (an NCIC check) before approving each visitor. Members of the immediate family are ordinarily approved once the background check clears. This process typically starts within the first few days after the inmate arrives.

Step 2. Wait for Approval

You’re not approved to visit until the counselor has fully processed your Visitor Information Form and the inmate has confirmed your approval with their counselor. Visiting list changes can be made roughly every 90 days.

Age Requirements

Visitors 16 and under are not allowed to visit unless accompanied by a legal guardian or an immediate family member 18 or older who is already on the approved visiting list. Any visitor 16 or older must complete their own Visitor Information Form.

Dress Code

No tank tops, sleeveless clothing, or see-through tops. Shirts and blouses must cover the midriff while standing. Shorts and skirts must cover the knee while standing, except for children 12 and under. No ball caps, hats, bandanas, sweatbands, do-rags, smartwatches, or other head gear, except religious head coverings. Visitors judged inappropriately dressed will be denied entry.

ID and Screening

Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license. All visitors pass through a walk-through metal detector, or a hand-held detector if the walk-through unit isn’t working.

Facility Rules

FCI Lewisburg is a tobacco-free institution, smoking is prohibited everywhere on the grounds. Visitors may bring up to $20 in loose (unrolled) quarters for vending machines, kept in a clear plastic bag no larger than 10 by 10 inches. A brief handshake, short embrace, and closed-mouth kiss are permitted only at the start and end of a visit.
