Visits at PICC run 1 hour per week and must be booked online at visitpdp.org/app between 48 hours and 7 days ahead of time, on a first-come, first-served basis. PICC’s visiting slots run weekday mornings and afternoons, and you must already be on the incarcerated person’s approved visitor list before you can schedule anything.
Before you can schedule a visit, you need to be on the incarcerated person’s approved visitor list. This is coordinated on the inside, so confirm with the person you’re visiting that you’ve been added if a booking attempt doesn’t go through.
Go to visitpdp.org/app and schedule a visit between 48 hours and 7 days ahead of your preferred date. Booking is first-come, first-served, so popular slots can fill up. PICC’s available windows are Monday through Friday: 9-10 AM, 1-2 PM, and 3-4 PM, with 10 visits allowed per time slot.
Arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled time. Bring a government-issued photo ID, since staff will confirm your identity along with the name and ID number of the person you’re visiting.
Required: sleeved shirts and underwear. Not allowed: plain white t-shirts, clothing that resembles inmate uniforms (orange jumpsuits or blue scrubs), hoodies or hooded jackets, shorts or skirts more than 2 inches above the knee, low-rise clothing, torn jeans, see-through or revealing tops, halter or tank tops, crop tops, clothing with offensive language, open-toe or slip-on shoes (including flip-flops, sandals, and Crocs), and jewelry, including face piercings and smart watches or rings. Visits are canceled for non-compliance, so check your outfit before you leave home.
Expect a private-room search, which may include loosening undergarments, along with a metal detector. If you have concerns about the screening process, contact the Office of Community Justice Outreach at (215) 685-8909 or (215) 685-7288.
Lockers in the waiting area require quarters, and there’s no change machine on-site, so bring quarters with you if you need to store belongings.
Children age 6 months and older can visit with a parent or guardian who provides proof of custody or a birth certificate. Visits are limited to 1 adult and 1 child, and can’t happen during school hours.
Anyone currently on probation, parole, or conditional release (including furlough or work release), anyone who was incarcerated in a Philadelphia Department of Prisons facility within the last 6 months, anyone considered a security threat, and anyone with suspended visiting privileges. Special permission from the facility warden can sometimes be requested.
Call PICC directly at (215) 685-7100, or reach the Office of Community Justice Outreach at (215) 685-8909 for scheduling or screening concerns.
Since booking opens between 48 hours and 7 days ahead and fills on a first-come, first-served basis, popular time slots can fill quickly. If you can’t get the day or time you want, check back periodically, since cancellations can open up new availability closer to your preferred date.
Legal visits with an attorney typically follow a separate process from general family visiting, without the same scheduling window restrictions. If you’re an attorney or working with one, contact PICC directly to arrange access rather than using the visitpdp.org booking system.
The official page doesn’t detail a specific process for visitors needing a disability accommodation. If you need wheelchair access, help with a hearing impairment, or another accommodation, contact the Office of Community Justice Outreach at (215) 685-8909 ahead of your visit so staff can plan for it.
