Visiting Hours

General visitation runs Monday through Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Visits pause during meals, shift changes, and lockdowns, so plan around those interruptions if you’re scheduling near the edges of the visiting window.

One Visit Per Week

Each detainee is allowed one 1-hour visit per week. Plan ahead, since you can’t schedule additional visits beyond that weekly allotment.

How Many Visitors Are Allowed

A maximum of 2 visitors can attend at a time, and a child counts as one of the two. If you’re bringing a larger group, you’ll need to split it across separate scheduled visits.

Register and book your visit online at richlandcountysc.gtlvisitme.com/app. Some third-party sources describe a change effective Aug. 18, 2024 requiring all visits to go through this online system, with walk-in or informal family scheduling no longer accepted, but this specific detail isn’t confirmed on Richland County’s own page. Assume online scheduling is required and call (803) 576-3201 if you’re unsure whether any walk-in option still exists.

What to Bring

A valid photo ID is required to check in for your visit. The county’s page doesn’t itemize a specific dress code beyond general expectations, staff will let you know if your outfit doesn’t meet requirements, so if you’re unsure, ask when you call or arrive with extra time to spare.

Attorney Visits

Administrative Office Hours

The facility’s administrative office hours, separate from visiting hours, run Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Keep in mind this is for general administrative business, not for scheduling or conducting a visit.
