How to Search by Name

If you don’t have the Register Number, search by first and last name instead. Since this is a nationwide federal database, a common name can return several results from different facilities across the country. Add as much identifying detail as you have, and double-check the age or other details shown against what you know about the person, to make sure you’ve found the right match.

What the Result Shows

A matching record shows the person’s name, Register Number, age, release date if one has been set, and current facility. The Register Number is the key piece of information you’ll need for everything else: it’s required to send money through the BOP’s Des Moines lockbox, to correctly address mail, and to log into TRULINCS for messaging. Write it down and keep it, since it stays with the person even if he’s transferred to a different BOP facility.
