California State Prison, Corcoran Visitation: How to Schedule and What to Expect

Getting Approved to Visit

Before your first visit, you must be an approved visitor. Complete the CDCR visitor approval process, which starts with a Visitor Questionnaire. Approval is required for both in-person and video visits.

Scheduling a Visit

Once you are approved, schedule visits through the CDCR Visitation Scheduling Application (VSA) at cdcr.gtlvisitme.com/app. You can book in-person visits and video visits there. Video visit requests can also be emailed to [email protected].

Types of Visits

In-person contact visits are available to most people in general population. You sit together in a shared visiting space with tables and chairs, with up to 5 visitors at a time. These visits aren’t limited in duration beyond normal visiting hours.

Non-contact visits apply to people who are newly arrived, in a segregation unit, or in a Behavior Management Unit. A glass partition separates you from the incarcerated person, and visits are limited to 3 visitors and typically run 1 to 2 hours.

Family visits last approximately 30 to 40 hours in a private, apartment-like space on prison grounds. They’re limited to immediate family, parents, children, siblings, legal spouses, registered domestic partners, or a verified foster relationship, and are not available to anyone on Death Row, with a sex offense conviction, in reception, or under disciplinary restriction. The incarcerated person requests a family visit through the Family Visiting Coordinator, and you’ll receive a paperwork packet to complete. You pay for your own meals during the visit.

Dress Code and What to Bring

• No strapless, halter, bare midriff, or sheer/transparent clothing.
• No skirts, dresses, or shorts that expose more than 2 inches above the knee.
• Bring valid government photo ID.
• Personal gloves and hand sanitizer, including wipes, are not allowed inside. You can bring your own mask, but staff will provide one if required.
• There are no exceptions to the dress code, even in extreme heat.

Visiting with Children

Children under 18 can visit, and there’s no minimum age. The incarcerated person is allowed to hold a minor child accompanying a visitor during the visit.

Before You Travel

• Check the current visiting status for California State Prison, Corcoran.
• Arrive at least 1 hour before your scheduled visit time.
• The minimum visit length is 2 hours once you’re checked in. A restroom break doesn’t extend your visit time.
• Brief physical contact, like an embrace or kiss at the start and end of the visit, and hand-holding during the visit, is generally allowed for contact visits.
