Points reset at the beginning of each month and do not carry over.
A typical month allows about 4 weekend visits or 8 weekday visits, or a mix. Coordinate with the inmate so they don’t run out of points before your planned visit.
What to Bring and What to Leave Behind
Visitors may bring only these items into the visiting room: photo ID, one car key (no remote), up to $20 in cash for vending machines (small bills and coins), and medically necessary items with prior written approval. Everything else stays in your vehicle.
Prohibited items include phones, cameras, bags, food from outside, gum, tobacco, and medications without prior written approval from the warden.
Dress Code
FMC Lexington enforces a dress code for all visitors. You may be turned away if your clothing violates these rules:
No khaki-colored pants (to avoid confusion with inmate uniforms)
No shorts, short skirts, or cutoffs above mid-thigh
No halter tops, sleeveless shirts, or clothing that exposes the midriff
No see-through or excessively tight clothing
No hats, scarves, or bandannas
No open-toed shoes or flip flops
Undergarments must be worn and not visible
When in doubt, dress conservatively. Officers have discretion to deny entry based on attire.
Children Visiting
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an approved adult family member. A children’s playroom with toys is available on site. Inmates are not permitted in the playroom. Children must be supervised by their accompanying adult visitor at all times.
What to Expect on Visiting Day
Arrive at least 15 to 30 minutes before visiting starts. All visitors pass through a metal detector. Staff may request a pat search or a drug narcotic test. You have the right to refuse these searches, but refusal means you will not be able to visit that day.
Physical contact is limited to a brief embrace and kiss at the start and end of the visit. No other physical contact is permitted. Vending machines are available in the visiting room.
