Funds go to the inmate's account for commissary, phone calls, and tablet media.
What You Need Before You Send
Before you start a deposit, have two things ready: the inmate’s full legal name and their KY DOC number.
The DOC number is the more important of the two. It is the unique ID assigned to everyone in Kentucky state custody. If your deposit does not include the correct DOC number, it could go to the wrong account or be held while staff sort it out.
If you do not have the DOC number, look it up using KOOL at kool.corrections.ky.gov. Search by the person’s full name and their record will show the DOC number, current facility, and basic sentence information.
How to Send Money Online
Go to accesscorrections.com and create an account if you do not have one. Once logged in, select Kentucky DOC as the agency and enter the inmate’s name and DOC number to find their account.
Choose your deposit amount and payment method. Access Corrections accepts credit and debit cards for online transactions. Deposits made online are typically posted to the inmate’s account within one business day.
How to Send Money by Money Order
If you prefer to send a money order, write the inmate’s full name and KY DOC number on the memo line. Do not send cash. Mail the money order to:
Northpoint Training Center
P.O. Box 479
Burgin, KY 40310
Money orders take longer than online deposits because they go through the mail and then go through facility processing. If time is a concern, the online method is faster.
What the Money Is Used For
Funds deposited to an inmate’s account can be spent on commissary items, which include food, hygiene products, and other approved goods available through the facility store. The account also covers the cost of outgoing phone calls through Securus and any messaging or media purchased through the Securus tablet system.
Having money on the account makes a real difference in daily life inside a facility. It allows people to buy extra food, stay in contact with family, and access entertainment through the tablet program.
If Your Deposit Does Not Show Up
If you sent a deposit online and it has not posted after two business days, contact Access Corrections customer support directly. Have your transaction confirmation number ready. If you mailed a money order, allow additional time for mail and processing. If you are still having trouble, call Northpoint at (859) 239-7012 and ask to speak with the business office.
