How to Get on the Approved Visitor List
No visitor may enter without being on the inmate’s list. The inmate must start the process:
The inmate contacts their case manager or unit officer and requests that your name be added.
They give you a visitor application form to complete.
The facility runs a criminal background check.
The inmate is notified whether you are approved or denied.
The inmate’s list is limited. If you are denied, the inmate can request a review through their case manager.
What to Wear
Louisiana DOC enforces a strict dress code at B.B. Rayburn. The goal is safety and modesty.

What to Expect at the Gate
All visitors are screened before entering the compound. Screening mirrors airport security and may include metal detectors, ion scanners, and K-9 teams. You and your vehicle may be searched. Refusing a search means denied entry. If you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, you will be turned away and may be banned from future visits.
