Old Colony does not take walk-in visitors. Every visit, for general population, must be scheduled by phone at least 24 hours in advance, and the visiting days are limited to four days a week. Getting on the person’s pre-approved visitor list and booking your appointment are both things to handle before you plan the trip.

There is no visiting on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday for general population. Inmates in general population get up to 5 visiting periods a week within this schedule.

You Have to Schedule Ahead

Every visit has to be booked at least 24 hours in advance. Call (508) 279-6000, ext. 6950, weekdays between 8 AM and 4 PM to set up an appointment. Arrive no more than 30 minutes before your scheduled time.

Getting on the Visitor List

Each person can have up to 8 names on their pre-approved visitor list. The visitor fills out a Visitor Application with a current photo ID and submits it for processing; approval or denial gets sent to both the visitor and the person in custody. List changes are accepted in the first 15 days of March, July, and November.

Dress Code

Visitors cannot wear:

  • Blue or black jeans
  • Sweatpants, sweatshirts, wind pants, or shorts
  • Tank tops, halter tops, or anything exposing the midriff or back
  • Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, or watches (wedding bands, religious medallions, and medical alert jewelry are allowed)
  • Hats or head coverings, unless worn for religious or medical reasons
  • Boots above the knee, work boots, or bare feet

Undergarments must be worn, and clothing cannot be ripped, torn, or missing buttons.

What to Bring

  • Valid government photo ID
  • One personal credit or debit card, if you want to buy food from vending machines (cash is not allowed inside)
  • For infants: a diaper bag with limited supplies, all subject to search

Leave cell phones, electronics, weapons, alcohol, and tobacco in your car. Vehicles must be locked, and pets cannot be left unattended in a vehicle on the property.

Children

There’s no fixed cap on the number of children a visitor can bring, but the accompanying adult is responsible for supervising them at all times. Acting up can end the visit early.
