Cumberland County Jail uses Access Corrections to process deposits to an inmate’s commissary account, confirmed directly from the Sheriff’s Office website. You can deposit online, by phone, or by mailing a money order to the jail. Cash is never accepted through any of these methods, and unclaimed commissary orders aren’t refunded once someone is released or transferred, so it’s worth understanding the rules before you send anything.
Cumberland County Jail confirms three ways to add money to an inmate’s commissary account:
Cash is not accepted through any of these methods. Don’t mail cash or a personal check, since the jail’s own mail policy specifically lists both as items that will be refused.
If someone is released or transferred before a commissary order they placed actually arrives, the order isn’t automatically refunded. Instead, it can be picked up in person from the Jail Business Office on the Friday, Monday, or Tuesday following the week it was delivered. Call (207) 774-5939, ext. 2172 ahead of time to arrange a pickup time.
If the order isn’t picked up by 4:00 p.m. the following Tuesday, no refund is given. Once delivery staff receive a signed receipt for an order, there are also no returns or exchanges, so it’s worth confirming someone is still in custody before placing a large order.
Cumberland County Jail publishes a dedicated Inmate Funds Inquiry Form for questions about an inmate’s account balance or a specific transaction. Note that account information is only released to the inmate themselves, or to someone requesting on the inmate’s behalf who provides the inmate’s name, date of birth, and the details of the inquiry. You can also call (207) 774-5939, ext. 2172 directly with questions.
Since Cumberland County Jail is a high-turnover facility, processing 3,329 bookings in 2022 alone, confirm the person is still there using the inmate search guide before sending a deposit, especially a large one.
