Burke County Jail uses JailATM for money deposits and JailCanteen for commissary orders. You deposit funds for the person’s account through JailATM at jailatm.com or the JailATM kiosk in the jail lobby. JailATM accepts cash, debit, and credit cards. Burke County Jail does not accept money orders, personal checks, or postal money orders. This is different from many jails, so do not mail a money order. Family and friends who want to order food and hygiene items can do so directly through JailCanteen at jailcanteen.com, up to $120 per week.

Step 1. Go to jailatm.com on your computer, tablet, or phone.
Step 2. Search for Burke County Jail or browse to the North Carolina facilities list.
Step 3. Enter the person’s full legal name and inmate ID number. Find the inmate ID using the online roster at morgantonpdnc.policetocitizen.com/Inmates/Catalog.
Step 4. Enter the amount you want to deposit. A service fee will be shown before you confirm. The fee depends on the deposit amount and payment method.
Step 5. Pay with a debit or credit card and confirm the deposit.
Deposits typically post within a few hours. Keep your confirmation number in case you need to follow up.
A JailATM kiosk is available inside Burke County Jail at 130 Government Drive, Morganton, NC 28655. You can deposit cash, debit, or credit at the kiosk. The process is the same: enter the person’s name and inmate ID, choose an amount, and pay. A service fee applies.
The kiosk is useful if you want to pay with cash or if you prefer not to use the website.

If you want to send food, hygiene products, or writing materials directly, you can place a commissary order through JailCanteen at jailcanteen.com. This is separate from a JailATM money deposit.

Ordering deadline: Place orders by 11:58 PM on Sunday. Orders placed after the cutoff will be included in the following week’s order.
Distribution: Commissary distributes on Tuesdays. Delivery can take up to 3 weeks from the time the order is placed.

If the person is transferred to a different facility, funds in their JailATM account may need to be redirected. Contact JailATM support or the jail at (828) 764-9590 to ask about the transfer process for account balances.
