Option 1: Deposit Online Through TouchPay

Go to the TouchPay website and search for Durham County Detention Facility or enter facility number 227701 directly. You will need:

• The person’s full name
• The person’s inmate ID number (find this at the Durham County inmate search)
• Your Visa, Mastercard, or MoneyPak card

Enter the deposit amount, confirm the service fee, and complete the transaction. Online deposits typically post within a few hours. Keep your confirmation number in case you need to contact TouchPay about a transaction.

Option 2: Lobby Kiosk (Cash, No Fee)

The TouchPay kiosk is in the lobby at 219 South Mangum Street, Durham, NC 27701. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The kiosk accepts:

• Cash (bills only, no coins)
• Visa and Mastercard
• MoneyPak

Cash deposits at the kiosk have no service fee. This is the lowest-cost option if you live near Durham and can deposit in person. Card transactions at the kiosk carry a fee.

Bring the person’s name and inmate ID number. The kiosk will prompt you to enter this information to direct the funds to the right account.

Option 3: Phone Deposit

Call TouchPay at 1-866-232-1899. The line is available 24 hours a day. Have the facility number (227701), the person’s name and inmate ID number, and your card ready. A service fee applies to phone deposits.

Option 4: Mail a Money Order or Cashier’s Check

Send a money order or cashier’s check (no cash, no personal checks) to:

Write the person’s full name and inmate ID number on the memo line of the money order or cashier’s check. Mail processing adds time compared to other methods. Allow extra days for USPS delivery plus facility processing.

Option 5: iCare Gift Packages

iCare is an approved gift package service for Durham County Detention Facility. Go to icaregifts.com and search for the person by name or inmate number. iCare packages typically include food and hygiene items approved by the facility.

What Happens to the Money

Funds deposited through TouchPay go to the person’s account inside the facility. They can use the money to:

• Buy commissary items like food, snacks, and hygiene products
• Pay for phone calls through Smart Communications (see the phone calls guide)
• Purchase other authorized items available through the facility

If a Deposit Does Not Arrive

If the money does not post within a reasonable time (usually a few hours for online and kiosk, longer for mail), contact TouchPay customer service at 866-204-1603. Have your confirmation number and the inmate ID ready. If the inmate ID was entered incorrectly, funds may have gone to the wrong account and will need to be corrected.

When Someone Is Transferred or Released

If the person transfers to another facility or is released, any remaining account balance may be held, refunded, or transferred depending on facility policy. Contact Durham County Detention Facility at (919) 560-0897 to ask about the process for funds when someone leaves.

Before You Deposit

Confirm the person is still at Durham County with the inmate search before sending money. If they have been transferred or released, a deposit to their Durham County account may be delayed or require follow-up to recover.
