Location and Getting There

Waynesville is in western North Carolina, about 25 miles west of Asheville. If you’re traveling from out of town, check Google Maps for current directions and plan for parking at or near the Law Enforcement Center.

How to Schedule a Visit

All visits are by appointment. Walk-ins are not accepted. Here’s how to book:

Online: Go to inmatesales.com. Create an account if you don’t have one, find Haywood County Detention Center, and select an available time slot. You must book at least 24 hours before the visit.

At the kiosk: Lobby kiosks labeled Visitation A are available at the Haywood County Law Enforcement Center. Use the kiosk to schedule your time slot if you’re already at the facility.

Give yourself plenty of lead time. If you wait until the day before, time slots may already be taken, especially on weekends.

What to Bring

Every adult visitor age 16 and older must bring a valid state or federal photo ID. Accepted forms include:

Dress Code

The following clothing is not allowed during visits at Haywood County Detention Center:

• Shorts above mid-thigh
• Spandex or form-fitting athletic wear
• Bandanas

Security Screening

All visitors pass through a security screening before entering the visitation area. Expect:

What Is Not Allowed During Visits

• Any attempt to introduce contraband into the facility

Introducing drugs, weapons, or other contraband into a correctional facility is a felony under North Carolina law. This applies to everyone on the premises, not just those who are incarcerated.

New Arrivals: Wait for Housing Assignment

If someone was just booked, they may not be available for visits right away. The facility requires that people be classified and assigned to a housing unit before visits are permitted. In-Person vs. Video Visits

Children Visiting
