What You Always Need

Before you send money, have two things ready:

  1. The person’s full legal name as it appears in NC DAC records
  2. Their OPUS number (NC DAC’s unique offender tracking number)

Find the OPUS number using the NC OPI inmate search. A deposit without the correct OPUS number can be delayed, misapplied, or returned.

Option 1. ConnectNetwork Online (Fastest)

Go to ConnectNetwork.com and create a free account if you do not have one. Search for Neuse Correctional Institution, enter the person’s name and OPUS number, choose an amount, and pay with a debit or credit card. Deposits typically post within a few hours during business days.

Online fees:

Deposit AmountFee
Up to $20$2.48
$20.01 to $100$5.25
Over $100$8.16

Option 2. Phone Deposit

Call ViaPath/ConnectNetwork directly:

  • Trust account: 888-428-1845
  • AdvancePay (phone account): 800-483-8314

Have the person’s name, OPUS number, and your payment card ready. Phone fees range from $3.27 to $8.95.

Option 3. Western Union

Send money through any Western Union location or at westernunion.com. Use code NCDAC TRUST as the receiver. You still need the person’s full name and OPUS number. The Western Union fee is $3.00.

Option 4. Money Order (No Fee)

Mail a money order made out to TouchPay Holdings LLC to:

TouchPay Holdings LLC PO Box 174 Houston, TX 77001-0174

Write the person’s full legal name and OPUS number on the memo line. Money orders carry no service fee, making this the lowest-cost option. Processing time is longer than online deposits, so plan ahead.

What the Money Covers

Funds deposited through ConnectNetwork go toward:

  • Commissary: food, hygiene products, clothing, and other approved items purchased through the facility store
  • Phone time: through ViaPath/GTL (see the phone calls guide for how calls work)
  • Other authorized purchases as allowed by NC DAC policy

NC DAC may place holds on funds if the person has court-ordered restitution, fines, or other financial obligations. Those deductions happen automatically.

If a Deposit Does Not Post

If the money does not show up within a day or two, check:

  • That you used the correct OPUS number
  • That the payment method processed successfully

Call ConnectNetwork support at 877-650-4249 for help. You can also call Neuse CI at (919) 731-2023 to ask whether a hold was placed on the account.

What Happens to Funds After a Transfer

If the person transfers to another NC DAC facility, funds in their trust account typically follow them. Contact ConnectNetwork at 877-650-4249 or call the new facility to confirm the transfer went through.

Only Approved Visitors Can Send Money

NC DAC requires that the person sending money be on the approved visitor list. If you are not yet approved as a visitor, start the application process using the visitation guide.

Never Mail Cash

Do not send cash in an envelope. Cash sent through the mail will not be credited and cannot be returned. Use one of the approved methods above.
