Overview

Orange Correctional Center uses ViaPath/ConnectNetwork (GTL) to put money on an inmate’s trust account. You can deposit online at ConnectNetwork.com, through the ConnectNetwork app, by phone, via Western Union, or by mailing a money order. Every deposit requires the person’s OPUS Number and full legal name. Only people on the approved visitor list may make deposits. Money goes to the person’s trust account and covers commissary purchases and phone calls through ViaPath/GTL.

What You Always Need

Before you make any deposit, have these two things ready:

  • Full legal name of the person at Orange Correctional Center
  • OPUS Number (their NC inmate ID)

Find the OPUS Number with the NC OPI offender search. A deposit made with the wrong number can be delayed or returned. Only people on the approved visitor list can make deposits. If you haven’t been approved yet, see the visitation guide for how the visitor application works.

Option 1. Online Through ConnectNetwork.com

This is the fastest method for most families.

  1. Go to ConnectNetwork.com and create a free account if you don’t have one.
  2. Search for Orange Correctional Center under North Carolina.
  3. Enter the person’s full legal name and OPUS Number.
  4. Choose a deposit amount and enter your payment information.
  5. Confirm the transaction. You’ll receive a confirmation number.

Deposits typically post within a few hours. Fees depend on the amount:

Deposit AmountApproximate Online Fee
Smaller amounts$2.48
Mid-range amounts$4.00 to $6.00
Larger amountsUp to $8.16

Fees are shown before you confirm, so you always know the total cost before committing.

Option 2. ConnectNetwork App

The ConnectNetwork app is available for iOS and Android. It works the same as the website. Log in, find Orange Correctional Center, enter the OPUS Number, and complete the deposit. The app is useful if you prefer to manage deposits from your phone.

Option 3. By Phone

Call the ViaPath/ConnectNetwork Trust Fund line at 888-428-1845 to deposit by phone. Have the person’s OPUS Number and your payment card ready. Phone fees range from $3.27 to $8.95 depending on the transaction.

Option 4. Western Union

Send a Western Union payment using payment code NCDAC TRUST. Western Union charges a $3.00 fee. You can send through a Western Union location, online at westernunion.com, or through the Western Union app.

When completing the Western Union transaction:

  • Use the person’s full legal name as the recipient name
  • Use payment code NCDAC TRUST as the account or code field
  • Include the OPUS Number in the memo or reference field

Option 5. Money Order (Free, No Fee)

This is the only fee-free option. Mail a money order payable to TouchPay to:

TouchPay Holdings LLC PO Box 174 Houston, TX 77001-0174

Write the person’s full legal name and OPUS Number clearly in the memo line. Allow extra time for mail processing compared to online options. Keep a copy of the money order for your records until you confirm the deposit posted.

What the Money Covers

Funds deposited to the trust account at Orange Correctional Center cover:

  • Commissary purchases: Food, hygiene items, clothing, electronics, and other approved goods available through the commissary
  • Phone calls: ViaPath/GTL phone calls run through ConnectNetwork. Fund the person’s account so they can call you from the facility. See the phone calls guide for how calling works.

The trust account and commissary account are typically the same account for NC state facilities. Calls are charged against the same balance.

Troubleshooting a Failed Deposit

If your deposit doesn’t post within 24 to 48 hours:

  1. Check your confirmation email and make sure the OPUS Number was entered correctly.
  2. Log in to ConnectNetwork.com and look at your transaction history.
  3. Call ViaPath support at 877-650-4249 with your confirmation number.
  4. If you used a money order, verify it was cashed and allow additional time for processing.

A deposit made to the wrong OPUS Number will not automatically be redirected. Contact ViaPath support right away if you think this happened.

Account Holds and Restrictions

The person’s trust account may have restrictions in certain circumstances:

  • Disciplinary holds: During disciplinary proceedings, access to commissary may be limited.
  • Court-ordered restitution: If the person owes restitution, a portion of deposits may be applied to that balance first.
  • Transfers: When someone transfers to a new facility, the account balance typically follows them, but there may be a brief processing delay. Contact ConnectNetwork at 877-650-4249 if funds don’t appear after a transfer.

What Happens If They Are Released or Transferred

If the person is released, any remaining account balance is returned to them in the form of a check or gate money as part of the release process. If they transfer to another NC facility, the balance usually follows the account without any action needed from you.

Call (919) 732-9301 if you have questions specific to a transfer or release situation.
