How to Search the Roster

Go to rowancountync.policetocitizen.com/Inmates/Catalog. The page displays a current list of everyone in custody at the Rowan County Detention Center, including both the main jail and the Annex.

Enter the person’s first and last name to search. Results show current inmates with their booking details and inmate ID number.

What the Roster Shows

Each record typically includes:

• Full legal name
• Inmate ID or booking number
• Booking date and charges
• Bond information (where available)
• Housing location (main jail or Annex)

The housing location matters. For visits, you always go to the Annex at 400 Grace Church Road regardless of where the person is housed. But knowing their location can help you confirm the right facility is holding them before you send money or mail.

What Each Field Means

Inmate ID / Booking number: The unique identifier assigned at booking. Use this number for every Inmate Canteen deposit and include it on every piece of mail. Without it, deposits can be delayed or misapplied and mail can be rejected.

Charges: The offenses the person is charged with or has been convicted of. Bond information may also appear.

Housing location: Whether the person is at the main jail (115 W Liberty Street) or the Annex (400 Grace Church Road). For visits, go to the Annex regardless.

Why Someone Might Not Appear in the Search

A few situations can keep someone out of the results:

• Recently booked: A new booking can take up to 24 hours to appear in the roster. Try again the next day.
• Recently released: If the person bonded out or was released, they will no longer appear.
• Transferred: They may have been moved to a state prison or another county facility.
• Name spelling: Try alternate spellings or search by last name only.

If none of those apply and you still cannot find the person, call the main jail at (704) 216-8770.

When to Call Instead of Search

Use the phone line at (704) 216-8770 when:

• The person was booked in the past few hours and you need same-day confirmation
• You cannot find them in the roster and want to verify their location
• You need to confirm whether they are at the main jail or the Annex
• You want to speak with a staff member directly

After You Find the Person

Once you have confirmed the person is in custody and have their inmate ID:

If the Person Is Not at This Facility

The Rowan County Detention Center holds people in Rowan County jurisdiction.
