Cattaraugus County Jail Inmate Search

Two Ways to Search

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office has an inmate search on its website. New York VINE also searches the jail by name and can alert you when someone’s status changes.

To check by phone, call the jail control room on 716-938-2200.

Note the Jacket Number

The jail identifies each person by a jacket number. You need it for SmartDeposit and for paying bail online, so write it down when you find them.

The Jail

The jail is at 301 Court St., Little Valley, the county seat. It has 148 beds and is maximum security, holding men and women, sentenced and unsentenced. Some housing has traditional cells and some is dorm-style with officers inside the unit. It also holds federal prisoners.

After Sentencing

Anyone sentenced to state prison moves into the DOCCS system and gets a DIN, and from then on the DOCCS lookup is the place to find them.

A First Letter, by Way of Clifton Park

Write down their full name. Then type a letter on your phone, and Pigeonly prints it and mails it to the Clifton Park box where the jail’s mail gets scanned, with no printer or stamp needed.
