What the County Publishes
Securus Technologies. A link to the vendor’s site. That is all of it.
There is no account creation guidance, no per-minute rate, no maximum call length, no monitoring or recording policy, nothing on blocking a number and nothing on international calls. We checked the Sheriff’s complete 80 page site index and the county’s own material.
The vendor side is no better for voice: it publishes no Suffolk County facility listing and no Suffolk rate, and its rate lookup requires a login.
So for phone calls specifically, this page can tell you who runs them and not what they cost. Ask when you open the account. That is the only moment the figure becomes visible.
The Account
The family side is a prepaid AdvanceConnect account, funded ahead of time and tied to the phone number the calls will reach. Ask for it by name.
If a page tells you to open a ConnectNetwork or GettingOut account for Suffolk County, it is wrong. We read the full New York facility directory on that system, which runs alphabetically from Steuben through Sullivan to Tioga, and Suffolk is not in it. Also confirmed absent: TouchPay, ICSolutions, Smart Communications and TextBehind.
Email, Where the Prices Are Published
JPay, part of the same group as Securus, lists Riverhead under facility code 06704 with one incarcerated individual kiosk inside, and three services: money transfer, email, and outbound email.
Written messages are the one thing here with published prices:
| What | Price |
|---|
| Stamps, five | 1 dollar 25 |
| Stamps, fifty | 12 dollars 50 |
| A message your person sends you | 25 cents |
A stamp buys a message. Buying in bulk brings the unit price down slightly, from 25 cents to as little as 25 cents flat at the top bundle, so the saving is in convenience rather than money.
Video products appear in the pricing blocks on these vendor pages without a linked service row, so we are not going to tell you video messaging works here. Treat video as unconfirmed at this facility.
Worth weighing up at Suffolk specifically, because the visiting process has more friction than most.
To visit you need: an online Guest Registration, a six digit identification number the county publishes nowhere, a telephone reservation, and a day that is not a Sunday or a Monday.
To send a message you need a stamp. No approval, no registration, no number you have to chase.
For a family in the first days after an arrest, that difference is the whole thing. The message can also be how you ask your person for the six digit number the visiting process depends on.
Riverhead’s Code Is Not Yaphank’s
Small thing, real consequence. Riverhead is 06704 and Yaphank is 06705 in the vendor’s system.
Worth double checking which one you have selected, because Suffolk’s two jails are listed separately there even though the county publishes one set of rules for both. And be aware that the vendor’s Yaphank page carries Riverhead’s street address, which is an error on their side. Take facility addresses from the county, not from a vendor listing.
If the Call Does Not Come Through
- Is the prepaid account funded, and tied to the number you expect the call on?
- Has your number changed? A new handset or number means setting up again.
- Are they still at Riverhead? Suffolk runs two jails and people move between systems.
- Is it the facility end? The main line is 631-852-2200 and Central Records is on 631-852-2241 around the clock.
Billing and account problems go to the vendor directly rather than through the county.
