Find Someone at Livesay Correctional Institution

Step 1. Go to the SCDC Inmate Search

Visit doc.sc.gov/inmate-search-disclaimer. This is the same search tool for every SCDC institution statewide, there’s no separate Livesay-specific lookup.

Step 2. Search by Name

Enter the person’s first and last name. You don’t need their SCDC number to search, though having it on hand helps confirm you’ve found the right person if the name is common.

Step 3. Confirm the Listed Location

The search result shows the person’s current institution. Before you travel, schedule a visit, or send money, confirm the result says Livesay Correctional Institution, not a different facility. People transfer between institutions, and results can lag behind an actual move by a few days.

What the Results Show

Along with current location, results typically include the person’s SCDC number, admission information, and custody status. Livesay houses inmates across two custody divisions internally (“A” Camp and “B” Camp), so the result may also help clarify which population they’re in if you’re trying to understand their programming or release timeline.

Why Someone Might Not Show Up

A few common reasons: they were arrested recently and haven’t been entered into the SCDC system yet, they’ve already been released or paroled, they were transferred to a different state or federal system, or the name was entered with a variation that doesn’t match SCDC’s records exactly.

If You Can’t Find Them

Try variations on the name first, middle names, hyphenated last names, or common misspellings. If that doesn’t work, call Livesay directly at (864) 594-4915 (“A” Camp) or (864) 495-4920 (“B” Camp) and ask staff to confirm custody status by name and date of birth.

Confirming Before You Act

Recheck the inmate search close to your visit date, deposit, or mailing, instead of relying on information from earlier. Institution assignments can change, especially as inmates near release and move toward pre-release programming.
